Our Story
Upon visiting Najaf, Iraq, our founder, Naila, was taken back after noticing the living conditions of the widows and orphans who dealt with extreme poverty.
When returning to Dubai, Naila was dedicated towards finding a way for the war-torn families to make ends meet. She embarked on a journey to empower these women and children financially.
Along with her assistant Shiela, both began to learn how to make candles from scratch. Once mastering the craft, they began to teach the widows and orphans how to make candles on the internet.
In an effort to raise more funding to support the families in Iraq, Naila & Shiela released their first collection of candles. The listing was a success, with the collection selling out in a matter of hours.
This was the pivotal moment where Light of Sakina transformed from a non -profit to a for profit organization. Naila recognized that a for-profit business would allow her to empower the women and children further.
Thus, Light of Sakina was born. At the heart of the business resides the intention of creating beautiful products which uplift spirits, protect the earth, and help those in need.
Today, Light of Sakina is dedicated to illuminating and touching numerous souls around the world. In line with our original mission, Light of Sakina donates 1 USD from every sold.
